Cancellation of Levy Exemption/Duty Exemption Approvals
The Iraqi Ministry of Finance – Directory of customs, as from the 1st of July has cancelled all previously granted LEVY/ DUTY EXEMPTION permits for all governmental contracts. (See also our Newsletter June 2012)

The TAX EXEMPTIONS are still valid.

Shipments can only be cleared at the borders only by paying the 5% duties. The regulations are not clear and obscure. All depends on how the customs authorities at the borders and airports implement these regulations and how. As soon as the picture gets clearer we will revert with more information on this subject.

REMINDER – Import License for the Private Sector
As we informed earlier, all imports to the private sector require a valid import license.

Ramadan
The holy month of Ramadan started on 20th July and continues until the19ty/20th of August 2012. Thereafter follows 4 days of celebration.
